Obituary - George Dittemore

George Dittemore one of the first settlers in Doniphan County, died at his home 3 miles north of Severance, July 3d, 1897.  He settled on the place where he died in 1854,  Ge was born Dec. 5, 1825.  He married Miss Emily E Taylor, of Putnam Co., Ind., June 8, 1851.  They had 6 children, Wm. Perry, Margaret C. Lafayette, John M,m J. C. and Adam.  He was a Republican, having voted for Lincoln and all the rest.  He was in the army from 1862 to 1865, serving three years.  He was a member of the Christian church, which he joined more than 60 years ago, while a boy.  The funeral took place at his house.  July 4, Rev Wm.
