OBIT - - EMILY MAE MEERS RUHNKE

Emily Mae Meers Ruhnke, 81, Troy, died Sunday, June 20 at a nursing home in Wathena.
Mrs. Ruhnke was born June 30, 1911 in Doniphan County, the daughter of William and Nell Sharp Meers.  She was a lifelong resident of Doniphan County.  She was a graduate of Troy High School in 1929.
She taught at Brenner Grade School for three years and served on the Brenner School Board for 30 years.  She served as 4-H leader for the Brenner Circle B Club for a number of years.  She worked as a Deputy Clerk in the Doniphan County Clerk's office where she retired.
Mrs. Ruhnke was a member of the First Christian Church of Troy, the Christian Women's Fellowship and Golden Circle Sunday School class, all of the church.  She was also a member of the Doniphan County Farm Bureau and the Busy Bees Extension Club, both of Troy.
She married Roy Ruhnke on Feb. 9, 1935.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1985.
Mrs. Ruhnke was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a son, Ron Ruhnke, St. Jo; a daughter, Marie Ruhnke, Maryville, Mo.; a sister, Mary Clements, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; a brother, WIlliam Meers, Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were today (Wednesday) at the First Christian Church in Troy.  Burial was at Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy.  Rev. Lonnie Bennett officiated.  Memorials may be made to the Troy Ambulance Fund, First Christian Church of Troy, or to the American Cancer Society.
Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Troy, was in charge of arrangements.
