LaVeta I. Sandy, 79, Troy, formerly of Atchison, died Saturday, March 6 at a St. Jo hospital.
Mrs. Sandy was born in Sparks and attended Doniphan Grade School and graduated from Troy High School.
She worked at the Wilson Poultry in Atchison and then for Atchison leather Products for over 20 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Atchison.
In 1935 she married Clyde B. Sandy in Savannah, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Sandy was also preceded in death by a brother, Emery Hennis, and a sister, Lucille Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, Larry, Atchison, and Gary, Kansas City; a daughter, Sharon Sandy, Troy; two brothers, Bernard Hennis, Holton, and Bob Hennis, Pineville, La.; four sisters, Myrtle Ruhnke and Pauline Ptomey, both of Highland, Marguerite Martin, St. Jo, and Opal Culp, Kansas City; 8 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday in Atchison. Burial was at Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy.
