Martha Jean Knapp Simpson

Martha Jean Simpson, 53, Troy, died Tuesday, December29, 1992, at her home.

Mrs. Simpson was born June 22, 1939, at St. Joseph to Charles H. and Martha Pfeiffer Knapp and lived her entire life in Troy.  A 1957 graduate of Troy High School, she graduated from Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison in 1961 with a degree in medical technology.  She was in the retail grocery business for the past 31 years.  She was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the church choir.  She was also a member of the SLK and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She married John A. Simpson on August 20, 1961.  He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, John Michael Simpson and Jeffery Simpson, Troy; one daughter, Julia Chumbley, Eudora. KS; two grandchildren, John Chumbley, Eudora, and Hannah Simpson, Troy; and two sisters, Patricia Higdon, Easton, MO, and Shirley Jarrett, Troy.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 1, 1993, at the Troy United Methodist Church with Elder Donald Harter officiating.  Pallbearers were Mack Jarrett, Jay Jarrett, Tom Tobin, Kelly Tobin, Jerry Jarrett and Rome Mitchell.  Burial was at the Mount Olive Cemetery.
