William D. Weinberg Sr., of Fairfield Bay, Ark., formerly of Hiawatha, died Sunday, August 22, 1993 at the White Cloud Memorial Hospital in Scarcy, Ark. He was 93 years old.
Mr. Weinberg was born May 20, 1900, the son of Otto and Elizabeth Brown Weinberg of Troy, He was raised in Troy. Mr. Weinberg recently resided at Indian Rock Health care Unit at Fairfield Bay, Ark., since moving there from Hiawatha in June of 1990.
Mr. Weinberg married Lillian "Maude" Newton on January 27, 1921, in Bern. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1992. He and his wife were in the motel, restaurant, cleaning and soft-water business in northeast Kansas until retiring. Mr. and Mrs. Newton (sic) had a son, William Jr., who died august 4, 1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Franks, Fairfield Bay, Ark.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Relatives in this area are nieces Betty Klaus, Troy; Virginia Twombly and Dorothy Cairo, Highland; and a cousin, Louise Cordonier, Troy.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 27, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Troy. There will be no viewing or visitation. Harman-Rohde Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield Bay, Ark.
