Obituary - Loretta A Bauman
Loretta A Bauman, 32 Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Wathena, died Saturday, July 31 in a plane accident in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas, with her fiance, John Cole and his father and step mother, Bud and Maureen Cole, Punta Gorda, Fla.
A storm reportedly swept into the path of the Cole's private plane and sent it crashing into a pine forest. The family dog survived the plane crash. Authorities said the plane hit at least 12 pine trees, shearing off the wings and crashed nose first.
Miss Bauman was born Nov. 24, 1960, in St. Jo, the daughter of Melvin and Esther Schoenfelder Bauman. She graduated from Missouri Western State College in St. Jo, Magna Cum Laude in 1983, with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. Six months later she received her CPA license and a Master's in Accounting. After graduation she taught accounting classes at Missouri Western State College. She went to work for the Saxton Nursing Home in St. Jo as an accountant. Later she worked for Touche Ross and Company and Laventhol and Horwath in Kansas City, MO.
In 1987 she moved to Port Charlotte and went to work for Fawcett Memorial Hospital in the accounting department. In 1990 she went to work for Henry, Enos, Flischel, Pope, Hardy, T.A. CPA Firm. In 1991 she opened her own CPA business in Port Charlotte.
Miss Bauman was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wathena. She attended the St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Murdock, Fla. She was treasurer of the Zonta Club in Murdock. She was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Membership Committee of Port Charlotte, and a member of the Florida Institute, CPA and the A.I.C.P.A.
Survivors include her parents, Melvin and Esther Bauman, Wathena; a sister Anita Williams, Wathena; five brothers, Jerry, Keith, Richard, Carl and Warren Bauman, all of Wathena and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are pending the arrival of the body from the Bahamas. Mass of Christian burial will be a the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wathena. Father Jude Burbach, O.S.B., will officiate. Memorials may be made to masses or the American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Terry Bauman, Brian Bauman, PhIllip Bauman, Richard Bauman Jr., Craig Bauman, Travis Williams.
Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Wathena will be in charge of arrangements.
