David E. Davies, 89, of Highland, died Saturday afternoon, June 26, 1993 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Wathena, where he had been a resident since August 1992.
Mr. Davies was born north of Troy, Kansas on October 15, 1903, the third of seven children born to Shelby and Maggie Harmon Davies.
He lived in the Wathena and Highland areas where he was a farmer-stockman-dairyman until he retired and moved to Highland in 1971.
Mr. Davies was a member of the Reorganized Church of Letter Day Saints of Fanning; of Smithton Lodge #1, A.F.&A.M. of Highland; a member and past patron of Vanderslice Chapter #452, O.E.S. of Highland until it closed in 1991, and became a member of the Troy chapter #183 O.E.S.  He also served as Past Proficiency Examiner of District #1 of Kansas, the Order of Eastern Star.
He married Frankie M. Marsh at Troy, March 31, 1929.  They were married for over 51 years before she died August 10, 1980.  He was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil David Davies of Vancouver, Washington, and Clyde William Davies of St. Joseph, Missouri; a brother, Owen Davies of El Cajon, California; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1993 at the R.L.D.S. church in Fanning.  Elder Gerald Jeschke, assisted by George Twombly and Leonard Twombly, will officiate.  Interment will be at the Fanning Cemetery.
Mr. Davies will lie in state at the Highland Mortuary after 8:30 Monday and where the family will greet friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday evening.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the David Davies memorial fund to be designated later by the family.
