Jim J. Davies, 59, Lancaster, died Monday, June 21, 1993 in Atchison at his stepson's home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Davies was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Troy, the son of James J. and Dorothy E. Keller Davies. He attended school in Troy, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a mechanic and owned and operated the Davies Auto Repair in East Atchison for 13 years before working for Rockwell as a mechanic. He then worked for Northwest Pipe before retiring in 1986 due to ill health.
Mr. Davies was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Atchison.
He was married to Mamie Kendall on March 18, 1961 in Troy. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, James S. Davies, of the home; three stepsons, Forrest "Frosty" Marlowe, Roger Berry and Stephen Kendall, all of Atchison; his mother Dorothy Davies, Wathena; six sisters, Joesphine Bunck, Everest, Freda Dhone and Lucille Weidmer, both of Troy, Ruth Kline, Savannah, Mo., Louise Nocks, Holden, Mo., and Sharon Reams, Galena, Mo., and 13 stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Hospice Program, or the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
