OBIT - John W. Davis  Jr.

John W. Davis Jr., DDS, 49, Chicago, formerly of Troy, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1993, at his home.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Dr. Davis was a native of Duncan, Okla.  He had lived in Troy and Kansas City before moving to Chicago.
He had a dental practice in Troy during the 1970s. For the past 10 years, he practiced in Chicago where he was assistant professor of clinical surgery for the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago.  He was the director of the university's Walter G. Zoller Dental Clinic.
Dr. Davis was an assistant professor of removable prosthodontics at the Northwestern University Dental School.  He presented seminars on treating dental patients with AIDS.
He had a dental practice for 13 years in Kansas City, was director of the general dentistry clinic at Truman Medical Center and was director of the Missouri Organization of Dentistry for the Handicapped.  He was on the staffs of St. Mary's Trinity Lutheran and St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Dr. Davis received a bachelor's degree in pre-dentistry from the University of Kansas at Lawrence, where he was a member of the Acacia fraternity.  He was a graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, School of Dentistry, where he was a member of Xi Psi Phi.
He was a member of the Bacchus board of governors in Kansas City and Old Mission United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his parents, John and Wanda Davis Sr., Wichita; a son, Brady Davis, of the home; and a daughter, Elizabeth Davis, Wichita.
